A cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Its specific function may vary between products. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Padimate O (2-ethylhexyl 4-dimethylaminobenzoate) is a PABA derivative that absorbs UV radiation in the UVB range. Despite its UV-filtering efficacy, it is classified H360F (suspected of damaging fertility), placing it in Category 2 for reproductive toxicity under EU CLP regulation. This classification significantly restricts its use in cosmetic products, particularly in leave-on products such as sunscreens intended for consumer use. It was widely used in the 1980s but has been largely replaced.
