A simple trimethyl-substituted cyclohexanol giving menthol-like fresh notes. Low-reactivity alicyclic alcohol with a clean safety record.
Trimethylcyclohexanol (CAS 116-02-9) is a saturated alicyclic alcohol structurally related to menthol, used for fresh, minty-cool, herbal fragrance character. Saturated alcohols of this type are among the least reactive functional groups in perfumery and carry correspondingly mild safety profiles: no sensitization concern in the parent structure, limited to mild eye/skin irritation at neat concentrations. RIFM/IFRA cover its use. Not an EU Annex III declared fragrance allergen. Good tier placement reflects standard perfumery use with solid supporting data.
