About KAOLIN
A soft white clay (china clay) — absorbs oil, gently detoxifies, and soothes skin. A staple in face masks and powders.
Detailed Analysis
Kaolin (CI 77004, Al₂Si₂O₅(OH)₄) is a naturally occurring hydrated aluminum silicate clay mineral. EU Annex IV/119 approves it as a cosmetic colorant. Functions as an absorbent, opacifier, and gentle abrasive. It adsorbs excess sebum without being overly drying, making it gentler than bentonite clay. CIR Expert Panel considers it safe for cosmetic use. Used extensively in face masks, foundations, powders, and deodorants. Not to be confused with talc — kaolin is asbestos-free.
