A synthetic aromatic compound widely used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes and cosmetics, giving a warm, floral-violet scent, but it is a known skin sensitizer.
Also known as Iso Gamma Super (or alpha-isomethyl ionone), this is a key fragrance chemical found in many commercial perfumes. It is one of the 26 fragrance allergens that must be declared on EU ingredient lists under Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 Annex III when present above 0.001% in leave-on or 0.01% in rinse-off products. It carries H317 (skin sensitisation), H411 (aquatic chronic toxicity), and H319 (eye irritation) hazard classifications.
