Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A dual-functional surfactant combining an ethoxylated oleamide with two oleic acid chains, providing both emulsification and skin-conditioning benefits.
PEG-5 Oleamide Dioleate is an ethoxylated fatty acid amide (from oleic acid) with an additional dioleate ester moiety, carrying an average of 5 ethylene oxide units. The presence of the amide bond introduces a mild additional concern regarding potential nitrosamine formation if secondary amines are present; however, under EU Regulation 1223/2009 Annex III it is not listed as restricted. Standard quality controls apply.
Skin benefits
- Provides both emulsifying and skin-conditioning effects
- Can improve moisturisation and skin smoothness
Known concerns
- Amide bond raises low-level nitrosamine formation potential in presence of nitrosating agents
- Standard ethoxylation residual (1,4-dioxane) concern applies
