PEG-10 HYDROGENATED TALLOW AMINE
Safety score · 0–100
Moderate
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A hydrogenated tallow amine with modest ethoxylation. Functional cationic surfactant with the standard amine-class concerns.
PEG-10 hydrogenated tallow amine (CAS 61791-26-2, hydrogenated grade) is a saturated polyethoxylated fatty amine with 10 EO units. Hydrogenation improves oxidative stability compared to unsaturated variants. It functions as cationic surfactant and emulsifier. CIR has reviewed the PEG-alkyl amine family as safe for rinse-off with impurity controls. Shorter PEG chain means somewhat less water solubility and higher inherent skin-irritation potential than PEG-40 variants. Nitrosamine-formation and 1,4-dioxane residual concerns apply. Score in Moderate/orange — functional but caveated.
