A polycyclic pivalate ester with woody-fruity character. Pivalates are among the most stable ester classes — low reactivity on skin.
Hexahydro-methanoinden-6-yl pivalate (CAS 68039-44-1) is a bicyclic alcohol esterified with pivalic acid. Pivalate (2,2-dimethylpropanoate) esters are sterically hindered and among the most hydrolytically stable ester classes in cosmetic chemistry, giving them excellent formulation stability and low reactivity on skin. Used in perfumery for woody-fruity fragrance effects. Public CIR/SCCS monographs are limited; RIFM/IFRA cover industry use. Good tier (80) balances favorable ester chemistry with thin public documentation.
