Safety score · 0–100
Avoid
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A C8-10 aromatic hydrocarbon blend with potential benzene content above the 0.1% w/w cosmetic threshold; benzene at this level is prohibited under EU Annex II as a Category 1A carcinogen.
C8-10 aromatic hydrocarbon streams include xylenes, ethylbenzene, cumene, and trimethylbenzenes in addition to benzene. The EU Annex II prohibition of benzene at >0.1% w/w applies regardless of the presence of other aromatic components. Under REACH and EU cosmetic regulation, no dossier supports cosmetic application of this industrial aromatic blend, and the co-occurring BTEX aromatics contribute additional skin irritation and neurotoxicity concerns.
Known concerns
- Benzene >0.1% w/w — EU Annex II prohibited carcinogen
- BTEX aromatics with combined skin irritation and systemic toxicity risks
- Industrial chemical stream without cosmetic safety assessment
